Bibiani Goldstars have moved to the summit of the Ghana Premier League following a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Heart of Lions at Duns Park.
The home side put on an impressive performance, securing all three points to continue their fine run of form.
Goldstars started the match brightly and took the lead in the 15th minute through Samuel Kumi. The forward showcased his sharp instincts in front of goal, finishing off a well-worked move to give his side an early advantage.
Heart of Lions responded by increasing their intensity, but the hosts remained solid at the back.
As halftime approached, Goldstars were awarded a penalty after a foul inside the box. Gideon Anaba stepped up and confidently slotted the ball past the goalkeeper in the 40th minute, doubling his team’s lead.
Despite the setback, Heart of Lions did not relent and managed to pull a goal back through Nana Kwame Oppong around the half-hour mark.
The second half saw both teams battle for control, with Heart of Lions pushing for an equalizer while Goldstars looked to extend their lead.
The visitors created a few decent chances, but the Goldstars defense held firm, ensuring they maintained their advantage until the final whistle.
This crucial victory propels Goldstars to the top of the league table with 44 points, overtaking their closest rivals. Heart of Lions, on the other hand, remain in third place with 40 points.
