A careless driver has tragically caused the deaths of two Assembly Members from the Jomoro Municipality in a fatal accident on the evening of Saturday, April 26, 2025.
The accident occurred around 7 PM on the dangerous and poorly maintained road between Nuba and Tikobo No. 1, near Nyamenle Kwame, in the Western Region.
The victims, Francis Armoh (Boleba), Assembly Member for the Alaboale Electoral Area, and Ransford Nana Otu Darko (Kofa), Assembly Member for the Elubo West Electoral Area, were riding a motorbike and returning from an official meeting.
The incident happened when the driver of the car, in an attempt to avoid a pothole in the road, swerved recklessly and collided with the motorbike. The impact of the crash resulted in the immediate deaths of both Assembly Members.
The road, which has been a longstanding concern due to its deplorable condition, is now drawing even more attention as the community mourns the loss of these two dedicated leaders.
Local residents have long complained about the state of the road, and this accident has intensified calls for urgent repairs to prevent further tragedies.
Despite swift responses from emergency services, both Assembly Members were declared dead at the scene. Their remains have been transported to a morgue in Nyamenle Kwame, near T1, for preservation and post-mortem.
This heartbreaking incident has shaken the entire Jomoro Municipality. Both Francis Armoh and Ransford Nana Otu Darko were well-respected for their service to their communities, and their untimely deaths have left a profound loss in local leadership.
The incident has sparked renewed public outcry over road safety, with many demanding stricter enforcement of traffic laws and significant improvements to the region’s infrastructure.
Authorities have pledged to investigate the matter thoroughly and hold the careless driver accountable for their actions.
However, the Jomoro NDC has officially announced the postponement of the swearing-in of government appointees and the confirmation of the Presiding Officer and Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), which was scheduled for Monday, April 28, 2025.
This decision comes in light of the sudden and tragic deaths of the two Assembly Members, Francis Armoh and Hon. Ransford Nana Otu Darko, who passed away on the evening of April 25, 2025.
