Ghana’s very own Jennifer Awuku, a 13-year-old football prodigy, has emerged as one of the brightest stars in African women’s football after her brilliant performances at the 2025 CAF African School Football Championship.

Representing Ghana’s U-15 girls’ team, Jennifer dazzled both on and off the pitch, earning the prestigious Player of the Competition award in Accra.

A Journey to Glory

Born and raised in Tigare, Bia West District in Western North region, Jennifer’s love for football started at a young age.

Her journey began at Tigare Junior High School before she was scouted by the renowned Martin Benjamin Appiah, also known as Fantastic, through BLACOE Soccer Queens. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of her rise in the world of football.

Having played two seasons with BLACOE Soccer Queens, Jennifer’s impressive leadership skills and tenacious performances caught the attention of many.

She has previously captained the Bia West U-15 girls’ team to a stunning victory in the Inter-Districts competition, firmly establishing herself as a leader both on and off the field.

A Star at the CAF African Schools Football Championship

The 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship in Accra was Jennifer’s moment to shine on the international stage. As a key midfielder for Ghana’s U-15 girls’ team, she played an instrumental role in leading the Black Damsels to a flawless group stage.

Her match-winning goal in the 1-0 victory over Morocco and the opening strike in a dominant 3-0 win against Malawi ensured that Ghana topped their group with an unblemished record.

Jennifer’s ability to perform in crucial moments, combined with her flair, precision, and calm demeanor on the ball, earned her widespread admiration. She was more than just a scorer; her vision, passing, and leadership were evident in every match.

A Heartfelt Dedication

In a moment of humility and gratitude, Jennifer expressed the pride she felt in representing her family and country. “I know my parents are happy seeing me score for Ghana,” she said. Despite her rising fame, Jennifer remains grounded and focused on her goal of excelling in football while also balancing her education.

From BLACOE to Berry Ladies

Jennifer’s career trajectory has been a mix of triumph and learning. After her success with BLACOE Soccer Queens, she joined Berry Ladies FC, a team that unfortunately faced relegation in the previous season.

However, Jennifer’s skill and potential continue to shine, and there is no doubt that her talent will play a key role in the future success of any team she joins.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Jennifer Awuku is more than just a footballer; she is an inspiration to young girls across Africa who dream of making their mark in sports.

Her humble beginnings, combined with her fierce determination and immense talent, have shown that anything is possible with dedication. As she continues to develop her game and balance her education, Jennifer embodies the bright future of women’s football in Africa.

With her natural ability, leadership, and infectious passion for the game, Jennifer Awuku is well on her way to becoming one of the top players in African football, and there’s no doubt that her journey has only just begun.
