A devastating fire has razed parts of the Life Educational School Complex, a private school located in Adabokrom in the Bia East District of the Western North Region.

The incident, which occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2025, destroyed three classroom blocks and a dormitory.

The dormitory contained several valuable items, including mattresses, beds, students’ uniforms, books, and other personal belongings — all burnt beyond recognition.

According to reports, the incident happened at a time when teachers and students were away participating in the Basic Schools Games in Adabokrom.

According to an eyewitness, Mr. Dominic Boamah, who lives close to the school premises, he first noticed a strange smell, believed to be smoke and, upon checking, realized that a fire had broken out.

“I quickly called the Assembly Member for the area after confirming that the building was on fire,” he recounted.

Parents and residents of Adabokrom, upon hearing the announcement through the town’s information center, rushed to the scene to help put out the fire. Their efforts, together with the assistance of personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service, helped prevent the blaze from spreading further.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, though investigations have been launched by the appropriate authorities.

The incident has left both students and the management of the Life Educational School Complex in shock, as they count their losses and appeal for urgent support to restore teaching and learning activities.
