The Member of Parliament for Akuapem South Constituency, Hon. Lawrencia Dziwornu, has spearheaded a constituency-wide Drug and Safety Campaign aimed at promoting health awareness and responsible drug use among the youth and the general public.
The campaign, which was held across various communities in the constituency, brought together students from the University of Ghana, who joined the MP in engaging residents, educating them on drug abuse prevention, and advocating for healthier lifestyles.
As part of the outreach, Hon. Dziwornu and her team visited two senior high schools, where they interacted with students on the dangers of drug misuse and the importance of personal safety.
The team also extended the campaign to three towns — Yaw Duduo, Obodan, and Kitase — reaching hundreds of residents.
In addition to the educational sessions, the initiative offered free health screening services, giving community members the opportunity to check their blood pressure, sugar levels, and receive basic medical advice from health professionals.
Speaking to the media, Hon. Dziwornu emphasized the importance of early education and community involvement in the fight against drug abuse.
“We cannot wait for a crisis before we act. Prevention and awareness are key to building a healthier Akuapem South,” she stated.
The campaign has been widely praised by community leaders and residents as a timely and impactful initiative, especially in light of growing concerns over youth drug use in some parts of the country.
