Traders in Bibiani, located in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region, were left in shock and despair after a backhoe loader crashed into their shops, leaving a trail of destruction.
The heavy-duty Shantui machine, with registration number GN 3069-21, reportedly experienced a sudden brake failure before careening into three shops at the Bibiani Roundabout on morning of Monday, September 8, 2025.

Among the structures damaged were a mobile phone shop, an accessories shop, and a phone repair shop.
Eyewitnesses described a scene of panic and fear. Collins Asiedu, who was nearby, recounted the terrifying moments: “I heard the horn blaring and people shouting. Before anyone could react, the machine veered off and smashed into the shops. It was a frightening sight.”

Although, thankfully, no one was injured, the emotional and financial impact on the traders is immense. For many, these shops were not just businesses—they were lifelines supporting their families and dreams.
The affected shop owners are now appealing to authorities, organizations, and kind-hearted individuals to extend a helping hand as they try to rebuild their businesses and recover from the devastating loss.

One shop owner, tears streaming down her face, shared her anguish: “Everything I worked for is gone. My phones, my accessories, my tools—all destroyed. I don’t know how I will start again. I need help to recover.”
Another trader added, “We are small business owners trying to survive. Now, in a blink of an eye, everything is lost. We appeal to authorities and anyone who can help to support us in this difficult time.”
