Bibiani Goldstarsโ€™ impressive run in the Ghana Premier League came to a halt on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Asante Kotoko in an outstanding fixture at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

The defending champions, who had gone unbeaten in their previous two matches, struggled to find their rhythm against a determined Kotoko side eager to return to winning ways after a goalless draw with Heart of Lions.

Peter Acquah Amidu put the home side ahead in the 15th minute following sustained pressure from the Porcupine Warriors.

Despite efforts from the likes of Razack Sanou and Atta Kumi, Bibiani Goldstars failed to find an equalizer before halftime.

The second half saw Kotoko continue their dominance, and in-form striker Albert Amoah doubled the lead in the 50th minute with a composed finish โ€” his fifth goal in five consecutive matches.

Goldstars fought hard to reduce the deficit but were denied by Kotokoโ€™s solid defense.

The 2-0 loss marks a temporary setback for Bibiani Goldstars, who will aim to bounce back when they travel to face Vision FC in their next league encounter.

Despite the defeat, the miners remain confident of returning to winning ways as they look to defend their league title.
