Accra Hearts of Oak and Bibiani GoldStars played out a pulsating 2–2 draw in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
Hearts took the lead on the cusp of half-time when Gideon Anaba turned Mawuli Wayo’s cross into his own net.
The goal was no more than Hearts deserved after creating a flurry of chances.
Mawuli Wayo missed two opportunities in the opening half hour, Hamza Issah missed an open goal from three yards, before Rocky Dwamena also blasted an effort over the bar from just inside the penalty area.
The Phobians were punished for their wastefulness when Samuel Atta Kumi produced a quick-fire double in the second half to level matters and put GoldStars in front.
Kumi’s first was an opportunistic finish from just inside the area after Kelvin Osei-Asibey and David Baba Adamu failed to clear the ball.
His second was a composed, first-time effort, curled past Benjamin Asare against the run of play.
The brace means Atta Kumi has now scored six goals in seven league matches, making him the competition’s top scorer.
Sunday’s match was the first time Hearts had conceded a goal in seven games in the Ghana Premier League this season.
Hearts have now failed to win three of their four home matches, having drawn three and won one. In total, they have drawn four of their opening seven games this season.
Defending champions Bibiani GoldStars are now in fifth place with 13 points, just three fewer than league leaders Medeama S.C.
Hearts of Oak are also on 13 points but sit in sixth place, having scored only six goals in seven matches.
