Bibiani Goldstars’ aspirations of climbing to the summit of the Ghana Premier League table were painfully dashed on Sunday, as they suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to an inspired Dreams FC side at the Tuba Astro Turf.

In a game that carried so much promise for the Miners, it was the home side who shone brightest. Dreams FC, buoyed by an impressive run of form, came into the clash unbeaten in their last five games — and they made their dominance count.

For Goldstars, who had been quietly building momentum themselves, the result was a harsh reality check. Their ambition, hope, and fighting spirit were met with ruthless resistance from Karim Zito’s boys.

The heartbreak began in the 35th minute when Salifu Abdul Razak struck the opener, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

And just before halftime, the dagger was driven deeper as Izdeen Mohammed — a former Ghana U-17 standout — rose to the occasion, doubling Dreams’ lead and leaving the Miners stunned.

Bibiani Goldstars tried to rally in the second half, hoping for a miracle that never came. Their efforts were thwarted by a solid Dreams defense and a goalkeeper who refused to be beaten, making crucial saves to preserve his side’s clean sheet.

As the final whistle blew, it was tears and dejection for Bibiani GoldStars. A win would have taken them top — instead, they now face the pain of missed opportunity, with Dreams FC climbing to 36 points, level with Bechem United, and just 10 points from the summit.

For Goldstars, the dream is not over, but Sunday’s defeat is a bitter pill to swallow. A setback — yes, but perhaps a spark for a stronger comeback.
