The former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Akontombra, Dr. Yawson Amoah, has received an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Humane Letters (D.HL. Honoris Causa) from the Elohim Theological College & Seminary, an educational arm of the United Clergy International Association (UCIA), accredited by the Worldwide International Accreditation Network.
The colourful ceremony attracted academics, clergy, political figures, family, and well-wishers, who gathered to celebrate Dr. Amoah’s outstanding achievements and decades of dedicated service to Ghana and humanity at large.
Dr. Amoah’s professional and leadership journey reflects resilience, excellence, and commitment. With a strong foundation in academia, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from the University of Cape Coast and a Master of Science in Monitoring and Evaluation from Christian Service University College, affiliated with UCC.
His career began as a teacher at Edumanu D/A JHS (2009–2016), where he taught various subjects, developed lesson plans, assessed students’ performance, and inspired many young lives.
Prior to that, he worked as a Cocoa Purchasing Clerk with Armajaro Cocoa Company Limited (2007–2013), where he played a key role in managing purchases for the company.
He later rose to become the Acting District Manager of Nhyiradua Cocoa Company Limited (2013–2014), overseeing district operations, supervising staff, coordinating cocoa sales, and ensuring compliance with policies.
His most prominent leadership role came when he was appointed District Chief Executive (DCE) for Akontombra District in 2017, a position he held with distinction until 2024.
Recognised for Excellence and Humanity
The citation accompanying the honorary doctorate described him as a “results-driven and experienced professional with a proven track record in monitoring and evaluation, purchasing, teaching, and management. A dynamic achiever who thrives in challenging environments, delivering excellence under pressure while adapting to change.”
The Board of the College acknowledged not only his professional contributions but also his humanitarian and philanthropic impact.
Dr. Amoah has been widely recognised as a mentor, life coach, researcher, and humanitarian whose interventions in education, community development, and philanthropy have touched countless lives.
“Through your philanthropic services, multitudes have experienced new life, salvation, and hope,” the citation stated, adding that his dedication to empowering others and building communities stood as a model for leadership and service.
His Words of Gratitude
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Amoah expressed deep appreciation to Elohim Theological College & Seminary for the recognition, describing the award as “a reminder that when one dedicates his life to service, humility, and the betterment of others, the world takes notice.”
He noted that his career journey, from teaching to cocoa management and later as DCE, had always been guided by a commitment to serve and uplift others.
“This honour is not only mine. It belongs to my family for their support, my colleagues for their partnership, and above all, the people of Akontombra and the Western North Region who gave me the privilege to serve.”
Pledging to continue his work as a humanitarian and mentor, Dr. Amoah added: “Leadership is not about titles or positions, but about the lives we touch and the hope we inspire. May this recognition encourage the younger generation to pursue education, integrity, and service to humanity.”

Speaking at the conferment, the leadership of Elohim Theological College & Seminary, under the direction of Archbishop Prof. Dr. Kwame Aburam Anoff Sr., emphasised that Dr. Amoah’s intellectual insights and timeless research on issues related to community development, humanity, the church, and society justified his selection for the distinguished honour.
The College stated that his career and personal values reflect the very principles the institution stands for: service, compassion, empowerment, and transformation.
