The Akontombra District Assembly has unanimously confirmed Joseph Appiah as the District Chief Executive (DCE), with all 22 Assembly Members, including government appointees, voting in his favour.

The confirmation ceremony, held at the District Assembly Hall, saw Appiah — who also serves as the Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) — receive a resounding 100 per cent endorsement.

This unanimous vote signals strong confidence in his leadership and vision for the development of the district.

In his address, Joseph Appiah acknowledged the numerous challenges facing Akontombra, particularly uncompleted projects inherited from the previous administration.

He identified key issues such as deplorable road networks, inadequate healthcare facilities, and under-resourced schools as priority areas for his administration.

He emphasized the critical role of the District Assembly Common Fund as a vital source of development financing and revealed that a portion of the fund had already been committed to the procurement of Drip irrigation equipment.

The cost, he explained, would be deducted over time, easing the burden on the Assembly’s finances.

Despite the challenges ahead, Joseph Appiah pledged his dedication to driving progress throughout Akontombra.

He called on residents, Assembly Members, and stakeholders to support his administration with unity and a collective spirit.

The confirmation has been warmly welcomed by community members, who see it as a fresh opportunity to address long-standing issues and push the district forward.
