The Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN) Ghana has engaged media professionals in the Western North Region to enhance collaboration aimed at improving service delivery across the region.
The one-day media stakeholder forum, held at Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Sefwi Wiawso on Friday, November 21, created a platform for journalists to share their experiences with MTN, highlighting both commendable practices and areas needing improvement.
Among the media representatives present were Mr. Pollo Esposito, Acting President of the Western North Region Ghana Journalists Association (GJA); Nana Atta Agyemang, Acting Vice President of GJA; Alex Baah Boadi of GNA, among others.
The journalists provided feedback on issues such as network coverage, customer support, and mobile money services.
The media commended MTN for improvements in data services, mobile money offerings, network expansion, customer care, and initiatives through the MTN Foundation.
They also raised concerns regarding the high cost of SIM cards in the area, incidents of mobile money fraud, the automatic registration of Ayo Insurance, and poor internet connectivity in Wiawso and Dwenase.

The Acting President of the Western North Region Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Pollo Esposito, commended MTN Ghana for creating a platform that allows the media to engage directly with the company.
Mr. Esposito applauded MTN’s AFA initiative, which supports teachers and health workers, and appealed to the company to extend the initiative to media practitioners to enhance their daily work.
He further encouraged members of the media to strengthen their collaboration with MTN, noting that journalists depend heavily on the company’s services to carry out their duties, while MTN also relies on the media to communicate effectively with the public.

Mr. Kennedy Kofi Ofosuhene, MTN Corporate Services Advisor for Western and Western North regions, highlighted the long-standing partnership between MTN and the media.
He noted that the media’s proximity to local communities provides valuable insights into customer complaints, which in turn helps MTN enhance its services and products.
Mr. Ofosuhene warned customers against sharing their mobile money PINs with anyone and urged them to be cautious of people claiming they have won prizes from MTN.
He advised the public to avoid dealing with such individuals to prevent falling victim to fraud.
He revealed that MTN is expanding its fiber infrastructure, constructing new cell sites, upgrading existing sites to handle higher traffic, and extending network coverage to previously underserved communities in the Western North Region.
Mr. Ofosuhene expressed gratitude to the media for their continued support and assured that all suggestions raised during the engagement would be presented to MTN’s authorities for proper consideration.
Regarding the AFA initiative, he indicated that the media would be included in similar programs starting in 2026.

Ahead of the media engagement, MTN Ghana officials made a donation of GH₵20,000.00 and 1,000 airtime units to support the Cocoa City Experience event held in Sefwi Wiawso. The donation demonstrated MTN’s commitment to supporting community initiatives in the region.
