The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly has officially confirmed Dominic Gyasi as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), following a successful confirmation ceremony held at the Municipal Assembly Hall.

Dominic Gyasi, a professional teacher and the Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), secured a remarkable 98 percent endorsement from the assembly members — a strong vote of confidence in his leadership and vision for the municipality.

The well-attended ceremony brought together assembly members, traditional authorities, political party representatives, and residents, creating a vibrant atmosphere of unity and anticipation for progress under the new administration.

In his acceptance speech, Dominic Gyasi expressed heartfelt gratitude to the President, the Member of Parliament for Sefwi Wiawso, the leadership of the NDC, and the entire assembly for entrusting him with the mandate to serve.

He pledged to lead a development-focused administration centered on key sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, sanitation, and job creation.

“I am deeply honoured by this endorsement and the confidence shown in me. I will work tirelessly with all stakeholders to bring progress and development to every corner of Sefwi Wiawso,” he stated.

Dominic Gyasi acknowledged the significant task ahead and stressed the importance of unity and cooperation in addressing the municipality’s challenges.

He assured residents of his commitment to the principles of integrity, transparency, and accountability.

Touching on pressing concerns such as youth unemployment and poor road infrastructure, he promised to pursue practical and sustainable interventions aimed at improving the socio-economic well-being of the people.

He also reiterated his commitment to inclusivity, urging all stakeholders to look beyond political affiliations in the collective effort to advance development in Sefwi Wiawso.

The Western North Regional Minister, Willbert Petty Bretum, commended the assembly members for their overwhelming support of Dominic Gyasi’s nomination.

He described the outcome as a testament to the assembly’s dedication to the government’s “Reset Ghana” agenda.

Willbert Petty Bretum also issued a strong warning to all government appointees, urging them to stay away from illegal mining activities.

He emphasized that President John Dramani Mahama is deeply committed to the fight against illegal mining (galamsey), which continues to pose a serious threat to the environment, water bodies, and livelihoods across the country

He emphasized the need for public officials to uphold the law and prioritize the long-term interest of their communities over personal gains.

He further encouraged the newly confirmed MCE to collaborate closely with assembly members, regardless of political differences, to foster unity and drive development across their respective jurisdictions.
