The Chief of Sefwi Obeng-Mim, Oheneba Nana Kwame Obeng II, has held discussions with Italian agriculturalist, Dr. Luis Luk, aimed at exploring opportunities to connect the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council to global communities.
The meeting, held at the chief’s residence in Asafo, focused on agricultural transformation, including the adoption of modern farming techniques, development of agro-processing industries, and strategies to create sustainable markets for local produce.
Oheneba Nana Kwame Obeng II said such collaborations could open up the traditional area to international partnerships, tourism, and economic growth.
“Other traditional paramount kings have done the same, and it’s definitely possible for Sefwi Wiawso too,” he noted.
He highlighted tourism development, particularly upgrading sites such as the Bonzian and Dweneho waterfalls, fostering cultural exchange through festivals like Alluolue (Yam, Eluo), and attracting foreign investment to boost agriculture and create jobs.
Dr. Luk commended the area’s agricultural potential and pledged his support for future collaborations.
“Sefwi Wiawso has fertile lands, hardworking farmers, and a rich culture that can be shared with the world. With the right investment in modern farming and agro-processing, this area can become a model for sustainable rural development in Africa,” he said.
The chief reaffirmed his commitment to building international relationships that will promote cultural exchange, tourism, and sustainable economic development for the benefit of his people.
