The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Sefwi Wiawso, Dominic Gyasi, has embarked on a significant tour across the municipality to inspect various government properties.

This tour forms part of his larger agenda aimed at evaluating the state of public assets and implementing restoration measures for those that have fallen into disuse.

As part of the inspection, Dominic Gyasi visited the official residence of the Municipal Chief Executive, commonly referred to as the MCE Bungalow.

His tour also took him to a structure popularly known as the “White House,” a facility originally constructed to accommodate high-ranking government officials, including the President during visits.

To the MCE’s dismay, both properties were found in deplorable condition. Once symbols of governance and leadership, the buildings had been completely overrun by weeds and bush, painting a picture of prolonged neglect and abandonment.

Dominic Gyasi revealed that the MCE Bungalow had not been occupied for the past eight years. The lack of use and maintenance had allowed nature to reclaim the property, leaving it in a state that is now unsuitable for habitation.

The MCE expressed deep disappointment over the neglect of such important government facilities.

He stated that the condition of these properties was not only disheartening but also a waste of the considerable public resources invested in their construction.

During his tour, Dominic Gyasi made a startling revelation that some of the state facilities had been diverted for private use.

One of the most disturbing cases involved a trained medical doctor who had turned an entire government building into a poultry farm.

He emphasized that such misuse of state property was highly inappropriate and unacceptable.

The MCE condemned the act, stressing that government facilities are meant to serve the public and not to benefit individuals privately.

In response to the situation, Dominic Gyasi announced plans to renovate all the affected structures.

Dominic Gyasi noted that restoring these properties is critical to preserving the integrity and image of public service in the municipality.

He assured residents that decisive measures would be taken immediately to rehabilitate the abandoned buildings. His aim, he said, is to return these assets to their intended purpose and improve the overall infrastructure of the municipality.

The MCE concluded his remarks by urging all stakeholders to play their part in safeguarding public property.

Dominic Gyasi called for a renewed sense of responsibility and stewardship to ensure that government resources serve their rightful purpose for the benefit of all citizens.
