Soccer Lions Football Club have completed a historic unbeaten run in the 2024/25 Western Regional Football Association (WRFA) Division Two League in the Bia West District.
The Simba Boys secured qualification to the WRFA Super Middle League for the second consecutive year after an impressive campaign that saw them win six matches and draw three.
Over the course of nine games, they conceded only five goals—underscoring their defensive resilience and tactical discipline.
Their dominant performance not only earned them the district title but also reaffirmed their status as one of the most promising clubs in the region.
A Remarkable Rise Since 2021
Established in 2021, Soccer Lions made an immediate impact in their debut season by topping their Division Two group. However, they fell short in the playoff stage, narrowly missing out on qualification to the regional Super Middle League.
Undeterred, the club regrouped and came back stronger in their second season, successfully earning a place in the 2023/24 WRFA Super Middle League. This season’s campaign marks a continuation of that upward trajectory, with hopes now high for a breakthrough into the Division One League.

Club President Commends Players
Following their latest qualification, the Club President and Former District Chief Executive for Bia West, Bernard Gyebi Blay, commended the team’s efforts and called for continued determination ahead of the final phase of the campaign.
“This is a proud moment for the entire district. The players, coaching staff, and supporters have all contributed to this success,” he said.
“To go through the season unbeaten is a remarkable accomplishment. But we have one more task—Tarkwa. I trust in the team’s ability to deliver again and make history. Let’s finish the season strong.”

Coach Appiah: “The Journey Continues”
Head Coach Martin Benjamin Appiah, who has been instrumental in the team’s impressive development, shared an inspiring message following their unbeaten success.
“This team has worked tirelessly, and today we stand proud of what we’ve achieved,” he said.
“An unbeaten season in Division Two is no small feat, and I’m proud of every single player. But we know the road ahead is even tougher. The WRFA Super Middle League is where we truly test our mettle. We’ve got our eyes set on bigger goals, and we’re ready to face whatever comes our way.”
“I believe in this team, and I know we will continue to grow. Our supporters have been amazing, and their energy has pushed us forward. Together, we’ll continue to reach for the stars.”
A Community Inspired
Soccer Lions’ journey has generated significant interest across Bia West, with strong community support contributing to their campaign. Matchdays have been characterised by enthusiastic crowds, and the club has increasingly become a symbol of unity and aspiration for the people of Sefwi Debiso.
As they prepare for the WRFA Super Middle League in Tarkwa, expectations are high. A successful campaign would see Soccer Lions promoted to the Division One League for the first time in their history—a landmark moment for the young but ambitious club.
The WRFA Super Middle League will feature top-performing Division Two clubs from across the Western Region in a playoff format that determines promotion to Ghana’s Division One League.
