Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, has pledged to tackle sanitation challenges and prevent further land encroachment at Sefwi Bekwai Senior High School following an unannounced visit to the institution on Thursday, September 4.
The Minister was warmly received by the Headmaster, Abubakar Djibo, who outlined some of the pressing challenges facing the school. These included the lack of proper toilet facilities for the girls’ dormitory, the absence of a fence wall, and the growing threat of land encroachment.
In response, Mr. Brentum assured the school’s management of his commitment to work with relevant authorities to provide lasting solutions.
He emphasized that while some concerns fall under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Assembly, his office would collaborate with the Lands Commission to properly demarcate the school’s boundaries and curb further encroachment.
He also commended the school’s management and students for maintaining a clean and conducive learning environment, describing it as a foundation for effective teaching and academic excellence.

During his tour of the classrooms, the Minister interacted with final-year students who were writing their WASSCE English examination.
He encouraged them to remain focused, take their studies seriously, respect one another, and strictly avoid examination malpractice.

Mr. Brentum further urged teachers to create a calm and supportive atmosphere for the candidates while upholding the highest standards of integrity.
Reaffirming his commitment, the Western North Regional Minister stated that his doors remain open to the school and all stakeholders, stressing that government continues to prioritize the improvement of education in the Western North Region.
