The National Coordinator of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP), Ing. Frank Asare, has issued a strong caution to the public over the activities of individuals and groups falsely presenting themselves as agents of the programme.

His warning came to light following an official press statement he released.

According to Ing. Frank Asare, the Secretariat has received reports indicating that certain persons are using the name of rCOMSDEP to extort money from miners and unsuspecting community members by promising to secure access to mineralized areas for cooperative mining.

Ing. Frank Asare stressed that rCOMSDEP has not appointed any agents and has never authorised any individual or group in any region to conduct registration or any form of facilitation for the Responsible Cooperative Mining Scheme.

He described the actions of these individuals as criminal, warning that “anyone caught engaging in these illegal activities will be arrested, prosecuted, and punished according to the laws of Ghana.”

Ing. Frank Asare urged the public to avoid engaging with such fraudulent individuals and called on all citizens, especially miners, to remain vigilant and protect themselves from exploitation.

He further encouraged the public to report all suspected scammers to the nearest police station immediately, noting that cooperation with law enforcement is critical to curbing these activities.

Ing. Frank Asare advised miners, cooperatives, and the general public to depend solely on official communication from rCOMSDEP and directed anyone seeking accurate information to visit the programme’s official website, www.rcomsdep.gov.gh

He added that enquiries may also be made by calling 0302787825, emailing frank.asare@rcomsdep.gov.gh, or visiting the Secretariat’s office located at No. 6 First Rangoon Street, Cantonment, Accra.
