The Miz Martrah Foundation, a philanthropic organization, brought joy and relief to widows in Debiso, located in the Bia West District of the Western North region.
This benevolent act formed part of the foundation’s theme, “Tears shed for another person are not a sign of weakness. They are a sign of pure heart,” and was a special initiative to mark the birthday of the foundation’s CEO, Miss Jennifer Martrah.
During the ceremony on Sunday, July 28, the foundation distributed various essential items, including cloth, rice, oil, and sardines, among others, to the gathered widows.
Speaking to the media, the CEO of Miz Martrah Foundation, Miss Jennifer Martrah, expressed that while the foundation primarily focuses on girl child education, this year they felt compelled to extend their support to widows.
Reflecting on her motivation, Miss Martrah said, “I know how it feels to be a widow, not because I am one, but because my mother is a widow. I understand the pains they go through, which is why I decided to celebrate my birthday with them. I want them to know that being a widow is not a curse but the will of God.”
She further mentioned that while this year’s donations focused on widows, future efforts might be directed towards orphans or individuals with disabilities.
“It’s been five years since Miz Martrah Foundation came into existence. Many of the donations come from my own pocket money, so I am appealing to the general public to help the foundation do more to support the less privileged,” she added.
The widows expressed profound gratitude for the unexpected support.
“What our daughter has done for us is beyond our imagination because we have not seen something like this before. May God bless her, her work, and her entire team. May she be protected by the blood of Jesus for remembering us widows. May she never lack, amen,” they said in unison.
The widows also made a heartfelt appeal, highlighting that the widows’ club remains active and welcoming further donations.
