Bia West MP donates GhC 195,000 & items to help curb COVID-19

As part of measures to quell the spread of the global COVID-19 pandemic and to ensure the good health of his constituents, the Member of Parliament for Bia West Constituency, Dr. Augustine Tawiah has donated the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the District Health Directorate on Friday 27th March, 2020.

The items which included 45 Veronica buckets, 50 plastic bowls, 200 sanitizers, 200 bottles of liquid soaps, 22 gun thermometers and Dozens of tissue papers were presented to the District Health Directorate for onward distribution on behalf of the Member of Parliament.

The venerable and workaholic MP presented the items together with the Bia West constituency communication officer, Mr. Isaiah Kwarteng, Hon Amed Ibrahim (constituency chairman), Alexander Sanwu (Secretary), Jerry Amankwah (Youth Organizer) and a host of NDC communicators.

He also presented a cash prize of GhC 195,000 (1.950 billion old cedis) from his NHIS fund to the health directorate to augment their efforts in curbing the pandemic as well as other infrastructural development within the health sector.

Dr. Augustine Tawiah reiterated the need for everyone to adhere to the precautionary measures to help contain the virus.

The District Health Director, Dr. Francis Amissah received the items on behalf of the Directorate at Sefwi Essam and expressed his profound gratitude to the Member of Parliament for his timely intervention.

“This donation had come at a time that we needed it direly “, he added and promised to use them judiciously.
