Bibiani: Former MP to contest NPP Parliamentary primaries

Mr. Christopher Addai, the former Member of Parliament for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai of the Western North Region has picked nomination forms to contest the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primaries in the Constituency.

He picked his forms last week ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s primaries slated for April 25, 2020, across the country in areas the party had sitting Members of Parliament.

Mr. Christopher Addai served as District Chief Executive (DCE) under Former President Kuffour administration from 2001 to 2004 after losing to NDC’s Hon Seidu Paakuna Adamu in the 2000 general elections.

In the 2004 general elections, he took sweet revenge over Hon Seidu Paakuna Adamu to emerged as the first Member of Parliament on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency. He continued his dominance over the NDC Candidate, Hon Seidu Paakuna Adamu in the 2008 general election as well.

Proud to 2012 general elections, he declared his intention not to contest again and the baton was handed over to the incumbent, Mr. Kingsley Aboagye Gyedu of which he defeated NDC’s Bright Asamoah Brefo in 2012.

Mr. Christopher Addai served two terms as Member of Parliament for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency and was honoured with a position as Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing under Former President Kuffour administration.

Since 2004, the New Patriotic Party has kept the Parliamentary seat to date and their dominance has wide the distance between them and their bitter rivals, National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Meanwhile, Mr. Christopher Addai will longhorns with his successor, Mr. Kingsley Aboagye Gyedu (incumbent) who doubles as the Western North Regional Minister and for BOST Managing Director, Mr. Alfred Obeng Boateng.
