Skyy Fc held Bibiani Goldstars to a goalless draw in a highly thrilling opening game of the 2020/21 Division One League Super Cup at Madina AstroTurf.
The two teams earlier met in the 2020/21 Division One League Zone Two when they both won their home matches respectively.
Goldstars began dominating the game in the first 10 minutes with possession as the defence was well organized than other departments.
Afterwards, Skyy Fc came in strongly detecting the past and created decent chances but could not hit the back of the net.
The Pride of the Western North Region put their Arsenals together when left-back, Evans Owusu, on the 23rd minutes had an opportunity but was grabbed by Skky Fc’s goalkeeper Solomon Ohene Nimo.
In the 32nd minute, Francis Oteng had a chance to put Skyy Fc in the lead; however, he blows it over the bar.
A minute later, Prince Owusu responded quickly for Goldstars when Skky FC goalkeeper Solomon Ohene Nimo denied the goal puncher a goal.
Skyy continued mounting pressure with series of chances but kudus to Ernest Kusi for denying them.
After recess, Prince Owusu missed a goal-scoring opportunity in the sixteen-yard box. His side continued their dominance in the game which resulted in field attempts.
However, Skyy Fc missed two glorious chances within the 60th minutes of the game.
Prince Owusu later in the game gave the defence of their opponent a hot chance with support from Godfred Kyei.
This did not discourage the Daboase based side when an attempt made by Baba Musah Hammadu resulted in a goal, but Goldstars were left of the hock when the assistant referee caught Maxwell in an offside position.
Afterwards, Prince Owusu carved a ball on the 93rd minute, but a world-class save by Solomon Ohene Nimo prevented the premiership side from getting a goal.
The two sides displayed good football yet lacked creativity on the final turf and that kept the game in a goalless draw.
On Friday, October 15, Goldstars will take on Tema Youth at 9 am, whilst Skyy Fc will play Bofoakwa Tano in Group A fixtures.
