Bibiani Goldstars slip to second after defeat to Legon Cities

Bibiani Goldstars suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Legon Cities at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday, January 26, 2025, in what proved to be a tightly-contested affair.

The Miners, who have been a dominant force this season, were undone by a second-half strike from Fredrick Akatuk in the 51st minute.

Despite their best efforts, Bibiani Goldstars couldn’t find the equalizer as the Royals defended resolutely to claim all three points.

The match started evenly, with both sides creating chances in a goalless first half. Goldstars showed glimpses of their attacking prowess but were thwarted by Cities’ disciplined defensive setup.

The defeat sees Bibiani Goldstars temporarily drop to 2nd place on the league table, but they remain firmly in contention for the title as the season progresses.

Goldstars will have the chance to regain their momentum and league leadership when they host defending champions Samartex on February 2, 2025, at Bibiani Dun’s Park.

Despite the result, the Miners remain favourites in the league and are determined to keep their title ambitions on track.
