Bibiani Goldstars taste second defeat in Ghana Premier League

After displaying unique performance in their first two games in the Ghana Premier League, Bibiani Goldstars have gone two games without a win.

The Pride of the Western North region defeated Berekum Chelsea 1-0 at home and drew 1-1 with Medeama at Akoon Park, which got many pundits rating them as one of the best in the campaign.

The Miners played very well against the league leaders Kumasi Asante Kotoko at Dun’s Park, creating numerous chances but lost 0-1 to the Porcupine Worries.

Goldstars on Sunday took on Elmina Sharks at Ndoum Sports Complex in week four of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League but lost 2-1 to the home side.

The Sharks have had a slow start to the league season where they only managed a draw and two defeats from the first three matches and Sunday’s victory ended their poor results.

Striker Enoch Agblenyo gave the home side the lead in the 32nd minute following a dominant performance.

After recess, Goldstars came in strongly and got an equalizer through last season’s Division One-Zone Two top scorer Prince Owusu in the 62nd minute.

His goal wasn’t enough for the miners as Sharks fought to get a winning goal on the 79th minute when Alhaji Mustapha scored with a fine effort.

Elmina Sharks, thanks to victory, have climbed out of the relegation zone to 10th while Goldstars are 11th following the defeat.
