The Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai (BAB) Municipality is set to commemorate Ghana’s 67th Independence Anniversary with a spectacular week-long celebration filled with diverse activities.
The event, running from Saturday, March 1st to Friday, March 7th, 2025, promises a blend of culture, sports, entertainment, and youth empowerment, bringing together residents, dignitaries, and stakeholders.
The celebration aims to promote patriotism, community development, and cultural pride, while offering an exciting lineup of events that will engage people of all ages. Below is the full schedule:
Day 1 – Saturday, March 1st: Launch & Clean-Up Exercise
The celebration kicks off with a massive clean-up exercise across Bibiani, aimed at promoting sanitation and environmental awareness. This will be followed by a media briefing to officially launch the Independence Celebration, detailing the significance of the event and expected participation.
Day 2 – Sunday, March 2nd: Health & Spiritual Growth
- Health Walk & Free Health Screening: A community-wide health walk will be followed by free health screenings, providing residents with medical checkups.
- Worship Night: An evening of prayer and gospel music, bringing churches and religious groups together for a moment of spiritual reflection.
Day 3 – Monday, March 3rd: “Bibiani Goes Traditional”
- Traditional Wear Day: Public and private institutions will be required to dress in traditional attire to showcase Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.
- Cultural Performances: Cultural groups and popular artist King Ayisoba will take center stage, delivering electrifying performances featuring traditional music, dance, and drumming.
Day 4 – Tuesday, March 4th: Youth Empowerment
A special session themed “Time with BAB Youth” will provide an interactive platform for young people to engage with successful and influential youth activists. This session is designed to inspire, educate, and empower the younger generation.
Day 5 – Wednesday, March 5th: Sports & Street Carnival
A packed day of thrilling activities, including:
✅ Marathon Race – A long-distance race across Bibiani’s streets.
✅ Waakye Party – A feast where residents gather to enjoy Ghana’s popular dish, waakye.
✅ Street Carnival – A colorful parade featuring masqueraders, cultural dancers, and brass bands.
✅ Bibiani Strongest – A strength competition showcasing athletes’ endurance.
✅ Fireworks Display – A grand fireworks show to light up the night.
✅ Boxing Night – An intense boxing contest featuring local and regional talents.
Day 6 – Thursday, March 6th: Ghana’s Independence Day Celebration
✅ Independence Parade – Schools, security agencies, and organizations will partake in a grand march past.
✅ Football Match: Ogyeahoho Goldstars vs. A Chosen Team – Bibiani’s football pride, Ogyeahoho Goldstars, will face off against a selected team in an exciting showdown.

Day 7 – Friday, March 7th: Grand Finale – MP’s Awards Night & Beauty Pageant
✅ MP’s Awards Night – The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai will host an awards night, honouring outstanding individuals who have contributed to community development.
✅ Beauty Pageant – A contest where contestants will showcase their intelligence, beauty, and talent to win the prestigious crown.
