The leadership of Bibiani Senior High Technical School (BISEC) in the Western North Region has made a fervent plea to the government and corporate entities for assistance in improving the school’s infrastructure and resources.
Established in 1966, the school has seen its student population grow to 2,589 students.
Situated on the major Bibiani-Kumasi Highway, BISEC has become a preferred institution for students from the Western North, Ashanti, Central, Western, and Ahafo Regions.
George Baidoo, the headmaster of BISEC, in an interview with Hamza Mohammed, outlined the numerous challenges the school faces.
Among the most pressing issues are the poor condition of the road leading to the school, inadequate furniture, and insufficient accommodation for both staff and students.
Additionally, there is a critical need for the tarring of streets and the school compound.
Despite these challenges, BISEC has continued to excel academically.
“As you may be aware, we always make it a point to surmount our challenges by focusing on academic excellence. We don’t let our challenges get the better part of us,” George Baidoo stated.
He highlighted the school’s recent performance in the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), where out of 805 candidates, 87 obtained aggregate 6-9, 439 obtained aggregates 10-15, 262 obtained aggregates 16-24, and only 17 candidates obtained aggregates 25 and above.
Impressively, 804 out of 805 candidates qualified for tertiary education, having achieved grades A-C6 in three core subjects and their elective subjects.
George Baidoo appealed to the government and stakeholders to urgently address these critical setbacks that hinder the school’s operations, emphasizing that resolving these issues would significantly enhance the quality of education and overall school experience for the students and staff at BISEC.
