Chief and residents of Sefwi Boinzan concerned over deplorable road

The Chief of Sefwi Boinzan in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region and residents have expressed dissatisfaction with the state of the road in the area.

According to Nana Ofori Ahenkan II, who doubles as the Kontihene of the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area, the awarded road construction has been left untouched for almost two years.

This has turned the incomplete culverts and gutters into a hazardous situation for the community.

Residents in the community, including boutique owners, second-hand clothes dealers, and food vendors, mentioned that the dusty nature of the road prevents them from selling on the street shoulders.

They, however, expressed their disappointment in the political leaders in the district for failing to construct their road despite giving them enough promises and assurance.

“Both NDC and NPP have been disappointing for a long time. Sitting here, all the food we eat has turned to dust. Those who sell cannot continue due to the extremely dusty road.

“Since I was born, you can’t mention two towns without Boinzan. But now, Boinzan is nothing because of our roads.

“Sehwi has been here for a while, but they haven’t even done basic asphalt. Why? We are also part of Ghana, and they come here for gold, cocoa, timber and yam. So why hasn’t our road been fixed.”

Meanwhile, the Chief of Sehwi Boinzan continued to appeal to the local authorities and the government to get the road constructed.

“We have asked the government to fix our roads, but we can’t keep pleading. Our road isn’t that long. When you need food, timber, all come from here, but they have not decided to construct our roads. Right now, we do not have much to say.

“We just want them to focus on fixing the Boinzan and Juaboso town roads because it’s crucial for us,” he added.
