A cocoa shed belonging to Mr. Festus Ahenkorah, a cocoa purchasing clerk at Sefwi Helehele in the Juaboso District has been burnt to ashes, with many properties lost.
The cause of the fire is still unknown as his wife explained that she came back from the hospital and was resting in the room when some neighbours passing by shouted that the shed was on fire.
“There is no electricity at the shed, moreover, we tried to quench the fire, but it was so burning that we could not handle it,” she said.
Revealing the burnt items, Mr. Festus Ahenkorah, who is also the NPP’s first Vice Chairman for the Juaboso constituency, said there were 60bags of Cocoa, three cocoa scales, seven Motorbikes, 1500 pieces of wood, 4 Bicycles and a Generator.
Others include five Solo spraying Machines, 20 Pruning machines, four Solar panels with two Solar Batteries, four satellite dishes, three DStv decoders, five bags of maize, 100 bags of Charcoal, a Chain saw machine, 10 Car tires, Plastic chairs, plastic and wooden tables, a TV set and many more but only three motorbikes were rescued.
He added that the shed was big enough, so it served as a warehouse where he kept every item he couldn’t keep in his room.
However, Juaboso fire service arrived two hours later to quench the fire, but the items were already burnt.
The DCE for Juaboso, Hon. Godfred Kwabena Agyei Asante visited the scene and advised the public to ensure fire safety, especially this season.
