The Bia East District Environmental Health Officer, Mr. Francis Osorede has called on Ghanaians especially residents within Bia East who rear farm animals to confine the animals from roaming in the Street and destroying people foodstuffs.

The majority of the farmers leave their animals to grow for market whiles in the street. They earn a lot of income from these animals when they are sold, but they do not take good care of them.

Speaking to the Media, Mr. Osorede noted rearing of animals such as Pigs, Sheep, Cattle and Goat is not a crime, but they must be confined since they don’t only spoil peoples Foodstuffs.

He added that they sometimes cause an accident in the Street and Water born Diseases when defecating in Water bodies. The situation, according to him is on a  rampant in the District especially Sefwi Adabokrom hence the call.

He said “We are not against rearing of Animals so those doing so should consult us for advice. We will arrest any stray animals we come across and send their owners to the Court,” Mr. Osorede told the media.

Meanwhile, others take advantage of these street animals by stealing and selling them to the final consumers.
