Corsa Preparatory and Junior High School (JHS) of Sefwi Bekwai in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality has emerged victorious in the 5th Annual Western North Regional Inter-District Quiz Competition for Junior High School students.
The event, held at Enchi College of Education (Enchico), showcased the intellectual prowess of young minds from various schools across the region.
The competition, which featured two phases – the Preliminary stage and the final stage, witnessed fierce but friendly competition.
Schools such as Kerstine Catholic Complex School (Bia West) and Kofikrom ‘W’ JHS (Akontombra) were eliminated in the Preliminary stage, paving the way for the top contenders to battle it out in the final round.
In a nail-biting final, Corsa Preparatory and JHS triumphed over WATICO Demonstration JHS of Sefwi Wiawso in a tie-breaker round. The win was determined by a tiebreaker question, which Corsa Preparatory and JHS clinched the victory with an additional 3 points, bringing their total to 38 points.
Enchico Demonstration JHS (Aowin) claimed the third spot with 32 points, followed by Dadieso Pentecost School (Suaman) and Bebe Oseikrom JHS (Juaboso) in fourth place with 30 points each. Defending champions Adabokrom D/A JHS (Bia East) finished sixth with 27 points, while Sweet Jesus JHS of Bodi took the seventh position.
As the champions, Corsa Preparatory and JHS received several prizes, including three brand new tablets for the contestants, a brand new laptop for the school, gold medals for the contestants, EMS textbooks for the contestants, a trophy for the school, plaques for the school and the District Education Directorate, and certificates for the participating school and contestants.
Second-place winner, WATICO Demonstration JHS, were awarded three brand new tablets for the contestants, medals for the contestants, plaques for the school and the District Education Directorate, and certificates of participation for the school and contestants.
Enchico Demonstration JHS (Aowin), the third-place finisher, received medals for the contestants, certificates for the participating school and contestants, and plaques for the school and the District.
However, the remaining participating schools were presented with certificates in recognition of their involvement in the competition.
The event was graced by dignitaries such as Nana Elluo Panyin III, the Kyidomhene of Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council and Executive Chairperson of the Organizing and Planning Committee for the Annual Western North Region Inter-District JHS Independence Day Quiz Competition.
Others include the Chairperson of the event, Nana Panyin II, the Tufohene of Aowin Traditional Area, the Senior Community Relations Officer of Chirano Gold Mines, Joseph William Anyan, Samuel Adu Gyamfi, the Municipal Chief Executive of Aowin, Felix Akomaning, Executive Secretary of Eagle Eye Educational Consult, Shirley Blankson, the Municipal Director of Education for Aowin and other prominant personalities.
Students from various schools attended the event, enthusiastically cheering on their respective institutions, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of camaraderie and support throughout the competition.
