Goldstars off to Cape Coast for pre-season tour

The Gye Nyame Boys have landed safely in the capital of the Central region as they seek to fine-tune ahead of the new Ghana Premier League campaign.

Goldstars left Bibiani on Sunday, August 7, for Cape Coast as they embark on a pre-season tour in the central region ahead of the 2022/23 Betpawa Ghana Premier League season.

Head coach Michael Osei named a 28-member squad for a training camp in readiness for the upcoming season.

According to our sources, the miners will spend weeks in Cape Coast and its surroundings and will play a series of friendly games as the technical team assess both new and old players.

Notable among the contingent that made the trip were Captain Yakubu Hagg, Michael Enu, striker Prince Kwabena Owusu, Prince Opuku Agyemang, Emmanuel Appau, and Ernest Kusi as well as signing Atta Kusi and Shafiq Muntari.

However, Bibiani Goldstars lately offload 11 players to make way for the purchase of top players to help achieve the club’s ambition ahead of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League Season.

The miners finished 10th in the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season with a record of 13 home wins, the highest number of home wins to record last season.

Coach Michael Osei’s club will want to progress in the upcoming campaign after managing to survive in their first Ghana Premier League season.
