An early goal from Micheal Yeboah and Akwasi Ayisi starred as the Power Boys crushed Essaman United 2-0 in Philip Gyamah’s first friendly match as the Power Boys’ head coach at the Nana Kwabena Badu I Sports Arena in Sefwi Adjoafua.
Power Boys manager Philipo had suggested after the dramatic come back to win in La Côte D’Ivoire a day before the Essaman United game that Ansah Joseph and Micheal remain his number 9 & 10 actually showed class as the two combined beautifully for Michael to notch the ball which slightly deflected and straight into the twine making it 1:0 before the break.
After 2:0 down in Ivory Coast, the Power managed to surprise spectators and their Ivorian counterparts by scoring late 3 goals making the final scores 3:3 and later won the game on penalties to progress to the semi-finals. That was the motivation to help thump Essaman Utd.
Essaman United certainly edged a first half that was arguably more entertaining but all efforts to score a goal was denied by the second goalie Frank Appiah who was fantastic throughout the game after the Coach decided to rest the choice Nana Boro.
Quality initially remained at a premium in the second half, but a fine goal in the space of 10 minutes after striker Kwasi Ayisi came on from the bench making it 2:0 in favour of the home side.
Evans Abomve and Badu Eric controlled the midfield well with Kusi and Coleman at the center-back. The lateral defenders Gaza and Ebenezer were on point as Grant and David Kwarteng (C) were clinical at the flanks.
Meanwhile, the Sefwi Annual Gala has drawn the Power Boys in Group F with the defending Champions, Great Assiamah FC, Papaaseman Utd, and Fosukrom FC.
The curtain raiser match between the Junior Power Boys and Junior Essaman ended a goalless draw.
