John Bitar Company Limited, a timber firm based in Sefwi Dwenase, has donated a brand new Nissan Patrol V8 vehicle to the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council, Katakyie Kwasi Bumangamah II, in celebration of his 10th anniversary.
The vehicle worth $90,000 was presented during a brief ceremony at the Okogyeabour Palace in Sefwi Wiawso on Monday, December 16, as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.
The donation highlights the company’s commitment to fostering strong relationships with the traditional authority and supporting the community.
The vehicle was presented on behalf of the management by the Deputy Managing Director, Mr. John Bitar (Son of Mr. Ghassan Bitar, CEO of the company), who was assisted by the General Manager of John Bitar Company Limited, Mr. Bader Darwich.
Speaking during the brief but symbolic presentation, the General Manager of John Bitar Company Limited, Mr. Bader Darwich, emphasized the long-standing bond between the company and the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council.
“This donation signifies our strong and respectful relationship with His Royal Majesty, Katakyie Kwasi Bumangamah II. Over the years, he has been supportive of our endeavours, and as he celebrates this remarkable milestone of leadership, we are honoured to present our appreciation to him,” he stated.
In response, the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council, Katakyie Kwasi Bumangamah II, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the management of John Bitar Company Limited for the generous donation.
“For what you have done for me today, as I mark my 10 years on the throne, I am truly blessed. This is unprecedented in my history, and I say a big thank you to John Bitar Company Limited. I pray that the Almighty God continues to guide you in all your endeavours and expand your business. On behalf of my elders and the people of Sefwi Wiawso, we are most grateful,” he remarked.
Speaking to the media, the Public Relations Officer of John Bitar Company Limited, Ebenezer Nyame, highlighted the enduring relationship between the company and the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council.
He revealed that the company took over operations from Gliksten West Africa in 1999, during the reign of the late Paramount Chief, Nana Nkuah Okomdom II, and has maintained a consistent and fruitful relationship with the traditional council ever since.
“It is an honour to show appreciation to the overlord of this area. Katakyie has been instrumental in fostering an enabling environment for businesses like ours to thrive,” Mr. Nyame noted.
Nyame further disclosed that John Bitar Company Limited currently provides direct employment to over 1,400 local residents, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of the area.
He encouraged other companies to emulate such gestures of goodwill to support local leadership and communities.
