On Sunday, July 24, 2022, a Town Hall Meeting convened by Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh was held at Juaboso Community Centre on how to solicit funds to construct a FIFA STANDARDIZED PITCH for the community.
The idea behind the meeting was to get a venue for the Juaboso-based Division One side, Sefwi All Stars Football Club, ahead of the 2022/23 season.
During the Town Hall Meeting, Hon Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, pledged an amount of GH¢50,000.00 from his Common Fund and GH¢20,000.00 from his coffers to support the project.
Also, the District Chief Executive for Juaboso, Hon. Godfred Asante pledged an amount of GH¢5,000.00, ten footballs, and four sets of jerseys.
After three weeks, no attempt has been taken to begin the construction of the project which has been abandoned for over 10 years.
The Member of Parliament, the District Chief Executive and Chief of Sefwi Juaboso agreed on the day to set up a committee to initiate the project, but nothing of that sort has happened.
Our checks revealed that representatives from the office of the legislature, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Sefwi All Stars and Chief of Juaboso were present for a meeting slated for Tuesday, July 26, 2022, but the DCE, Hon. Godfred Kwabena Adjei Asante failed to show up.
After several attempts to meet the District Chief Executive of Sefwi Juaboso over the setup of the Committee and the construction of the park have yielded no results.
Per our checks, Hon. Godfred Kwabena Adjei Asante is not interested in doing business with the Member of Parliament over the construction of the field.
As the politics of NPP and NDC have affected the development of the country, their actions will definitely affect the above-mentioned project.
However, Sefwi All Stars will play their home games at Bibiani Dun’s Park after Ghana Football Association rejected Afere Town Park for not meeting the requirements of the Club Licensing Board of the football governing body.
