After a heavy rainstorm ripped off the roofs of Subiri Anglican Primary School and Subiri M/A Junior High School in the early months of May, the residents have expressed disappointment over the lack of support from the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and the Member of Parliament (MP).
Despite their pleas for assistance to re-roof the damaged school buildings, no action has been taken, leaving the community frustrated and their children’s education in jeopardy.
The Assembly member for Subiri Electoral Area, Martin Acheampong, expressed his concern, stating that efforts to seek help from the authorities in Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai have been futile.
Similarly, unit committee member Ebenezer Coffie lamented that despite reporting the issue to the Member of Parliament, Alfred Obeng Boateng, Paul Andoh (Municipal Chief Executive), and the Municipal NADMO office, no progress has been made.
“The sad aspect of the issue is, we are in the rainy season, and the students are forced to go home whenever there is rainfall, whether in the morning or in the afternoon,” said Coffie told Sefwinews.com.
According him, this disruption is severely affecting teaching and learning, highlighting the urgent need for action to address the damage.
Ebenezer Coffie reveals that since Alfred Obeng Boateng assumed office as Member of Parliament in 2021, he has not initiated a single project in the Subiri community.
The community is calling on the relevant authorities to prioritize the rehabilitation of the schools to ensure that students can resume classes without further delay.
