The National Democratic Congress after their nationwide vetting of the upcoming parliamentary primaries, 17 contestants across various constituencies petitioned the national parliamentary primaries committee for unfair treatment during their constituency vetting.
The appeal committee of the National Democratic Congress was chaired by Mr. Nii Okaija Adamafio and other four members.
After the release of the committee’s decision over the petitions on August 20th, 9 aspirants were cleared to contest, 6 were disqualified and 2 according to the committee were to under further investigations.
Among the 6 aspirants disqualified, two of them; Raphael Parku and Kwame Aduhene Kwarteng were from Sefwi Juaboso constituency living Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh to go unopposed.
In an interview with Mr. Raphael Parku on Sefwi Bodi based radio station, Akwaaba FM expressed his sentiments about the decision of the national committee. Speaking with Ghana Manhene, he added that they have been speculations of going independent during 2020 general elections.
” I have been hearing some speculations that I will contest as an independent candidate come 2020 general elections but I think that is a decision to either to be taken or not. I believe when we reach the bridge, we’ll know how to cross it” he asserted.
The parliamentary primaries will take place on Saturday, 24th August 2019 nationwide.
