Video: NPP brings jobs, NDC offers empty promises – Akontombra MP

Alex Djornobuah Tetteh, the Member of Parliament for Sefwi Akontombra, has launched a scathing critique of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing them of failing to fulfill their promises and contrasting their record with the achievements of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

The MP’s comments came during a large-scale health walk event, which saw hundreds of constituents gather from Sefwi Nkwadum to Sefwi Nzawora on Thursday, August 22.

The event not only highlighted health awareness but also served as a platform for Alex Tetteh to address the achievements of his tenure and criticize his political opponents.

Speaking to the crowd, Alex Djonouboah Tetteh emphasized the progress made under the NPP government, contrasting it with what he described as “empty promises” from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“Our government has delivered on its promises to create jobs and improve the livelihoods of our people. We have seen real progress in various sectors, from infrastructure to education and healthcare. This is in stark contrast to the NDC, which has consistently failed to deliver on its promises.” Alex Tetteh stated.

He pointed out that in his tenure as Member of Parliament for Akontombra Constituency, there has been a notable increase in the number of police officers from the Akontombra constituency.

“When I first assumed office, only two police officers were natives of Akontombra, dating back to 1992. Thanks to the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, we now have more job opportunities, particularly for the youth in our constituency.”

Alex Tetteh showcased his own achievements, highlighting the employment of over 400 teachers and the provision of job opportunities in various sectors, including the police, military, civil service, health and many more.

He also mentioned his efforts to support local businesses, revealing that he has purchased 800 machines for dressmakers and tailors to improve their livelihoods.

The MP promised continued support for the youth of Akontombra, emphasizing his commitment to creating job opportunities at every polling station in the constituency.

Alex Tetteh also highlighted the infrastructural achievements in the constituency, mentioning the construction of schools, roads, water facilities, health facilities, as well as the installation of telephone masts and others. These developments, he said, are a testament to the NPP’s commitment to improving the lives of the people in Akontombra.

He urged residents to vote for him to secure more job opportunities and continued development for the area.

Turning his focus to the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for Sefwi Akontombra, Pious Kwame Nkuah, he accused him of lacking concrete plans for employment creation. He said Pious Kwame Nkuah had even stated that getting employment for the youth was unnecessary.

Alex Tetteh urged the constituents to vote against Pious Kwame Nkuah, emphasizing that someone who neglects the welfare of the youth should not be entrusted with their future.

“We need leaders who are committed to our development and who prioritize the well-being of our people,” Tetteh stated.

Alex Djornobuah Tetteh also took aim at the NDC’s parliamentary candidate, accusing him of corruption and inefficiency during his tenure as District Chief Executive, including the alleged sale of cylinders meant for institutions.

Adding her voice, Martha Kwayie-Manu, the Deputy CEO of the Forestry Commission, also commended the NPP, describing it as the best-performing government compared to the NDC.

She urged Ghanaians to be vigilant in the upcoming elections, protect ballot boxes, and support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the next president of Ghana.

Samuel Kofi Abiaw, the Western North Regional Elections and Research Officer for the NPP called on party members to engage actively in the ongoing voter exhibition exercise conducted by the Electoral Commission.
