The Western North Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Addo Yaw Harry, has called on Sampson Ahi, Member of Parliament for Bodi Constituency and Deputy Minister-designate for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, to retract and apologize for what he describes as a misleading statement regarding road projects in the Bodi Constituency.
During his vetting before the Appointments Committee, Sampson Ahi reportedly claimed that the previous government under Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had not constructed or tarred any roads in Bodi.
However, according to Addo Yaw Harry, this assertion is false and contradicts documented evidence of extensive road developments in the constituency.
NPP’s Evidence of Road Projects in Bodi
In a statement issued by the NPP’s Western North Regional Communications Directorate, Addo Yaw Harry outlined completed and ongoing road projects undertaken in the Bodi Constituency from 2017 to 2025.
Completed Road Projects:
- Sui Ano – Bodi Road:
- A 6-kilometer stretch was tarred, improving transportation and accessibility between Sui Ano and Bodi.
- Amogya Town Stretch:
- A 2-kilometer road within Amogya town was fully tarred, enhancing urban mobility.
Ongoing Road Projects:
- Juaboso – Kwasikrom – Karlo Road:
- This 17-kilometer road (excluding the already completed 2 kilometers in Amogya) was upgraded from a feeder road to a highway.
- The project includes gravelling, culvert installations, and bridge constructions, with bitumen surfacing currently underway.
- Timelines Company, the contractor, has been commended for its diligent work.
- Ahinbenso – Bodi Road:
- An 11-kilometer stretch currently under construction aims to improve access between Ahinbenso and Bodi.
Wider Regional and National Road Developments
According to Addo Yaw Harry, beyond Bodi, every constituency in the Western North Region benefited from at least one tarred road under the Akufo-Addo administration, with 16 completed road projects and several ongoing.
On a national scale, the NPP government completed 11,975.96 kilometers of roads, 33 bridges, and six interchanges between 2017 and 2022, as documented by the Ministry of Roads and Highways. These efforts, he said, demonstrate the government’s strong commitment to infrastructure development.
Call for an Apology
Given these extensive projects, Addo Yaw Harry insists that Sampson Ahi’s statement was misleading and failed to acknowledge the government’s contributions to the constituency and the region.
“It is imperative for Sampson Ahi to acknowledge these developments and issue an apology to the Appointments Committee and the entire nation for the inaccuracies presented during his vetting,” Addo Yaw Harry stated.
He further emphasized that the NPP has consistently invested in road infrastructure, particularly in the Western North Region, to support economic growth and improve the livelihoods of residents.
Awaiting Response
As of now, Sampson Ahi has not responded to the NPP’s demand for an apology.
