Students at Enchi College of Education were introduced to a new way to vote in the 2022/2023 Student Representative Council Elections. The election was conducted by using an electronic voting system (E-voting).
This resulted in the elections taking on a new and interesting character. The mechanism is the first of its kind to be set up since the college was founded.
Enchi College of Education is the first institution to use the E-voting system among Ghana’s 46 colleges of education.
The Electronic Voting System will be used to hold subsequent elections to elect student leaders in the coming years.
Because the voting mechanism was quick and reliable, a large number of students participated in the election, which was held on Sunday, August 21, 2022. This helped to expedite the procedure as students were done voting within a few hours.
This electronic voting system was developed by Mr. Ronald Andoh-Kwaw, who works at the college as a librarian, and Mr. Desmond Jefferson, an I.T. technician for the college.
Together with the college’s management and the Electoral Commissioners, these two people helped make it possible for this great and clever idea to be used by the college.
The elections came to an end with Mr. Isaac Ofori pulling more than 50% of the total votes cast to emerge as the SRC President of the Enchi College of Education.
