Police calm down rival groups over Sefwi Bekwai chieftaincy dispute

The Corsah family made an attempt of enstooling Mr. Isaac Danso Asare as the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Bekwai Tradition Council on Thursday 24th January, 2019 but the action was stopped by the police service.

The family batting to enter the Royal Palace to complete the ceremony to enstool Mr. Isaac Danso Asare as a successor to Odeneho Gyapong Ababio II. The Lecturer of VVU was on 29th November, 2018 initiated to perform the needed customs to become the next king of the area.

The Ghana Police Service has protected the Royal Palace since November, 2018 following the action by the Rival groups. The Police Service halted the Corsah Royal Family this morning from entering the palace when they were accompanied by their security personals and “Machomen” armed with guns.

A press conference was conducted by the Traditional Council of Sefwi Bekwai

on Monday 21st January, 2019 stating categorically that no personality has been nominated to the kinsmen of the Royal Family for their endorsement.  Mr. Isaac Danso Asare, whose name was mentioned few weeks ago to succeed the former Paramount Chief of Sefwi Bekwai, Odeneho Gyapong Ababio II, has been called off by the King makers of the traditional area.

Businesses and School activities has been brought to a halt  at Sefwi Bekwai following the action by the rival groups in an attempt  to ordinate the Valley View University as a King.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has called for re-enforcement to fight for peace at Sefwi Bekwai.
