President Mahama recalls diplomatic passports of Nana Addo’s administration

President John Dramani Mahama has made a significant move in reviewing privileges granted by the previous Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo’s administration, ordering the recall of diplomatic passports issued during that time.

This decision, made through a letter to the Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on January 14, 2025, marks a key step in aligning the current government’s policies and privileges .

The recall of diplomatic passports is likely to affect individuals who were granted these privileges under the previous government. This move may be seen as part of a broader effort to ensure that privileges are granted in a fair and transparent manner.

It’s worth noting that diplomatic passports are typically issued to high-ranking government officials, diplomats, and other individuals who require special privileges when traveling abroad.

The recall of these passports may have significant implications for those affected, and it will be important to monitor how this decision is implemented and what consequences it may have.

The following under listed categories are the affected officials.

  1. Former Ministers and Spouses
  2. Former Members of Parliament within Both NDC and NPP
