The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sefwi Wiawso, Dominic Gyasi, has been nominated to receive the prestigious Black Star Acclamation Honorary Award.
His nomination makes him the only representative from the Western North Region among 30 selected Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) out of 261 across the country to be honoured.
The Black Star Acclamation Honorary Award, established in 2013, is designed to promote the vision and values of Kwame Nkrumah, particularly his ambition to champion Africa’s economic growth and development.
This year’s edition is expected to recognize outstanding politicians under the Fourth Republic, especially those who served during the administration of John Dramani Mahama, for their exceptional performance and dedication to national development.
The award scheme is organized by the World Diplomatic Federation in collaboration with its affiliates, including the Rectitude International Mission, Confederation of Governance Assessment Institute, and Bureau of Research on Governance, Commerce, and Administration.
Beyond the recognition, Dominic Gyasi has distinguished himself through a number of development-focused initiatives within the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality.
Through his leadership, the municipality has witnessed ongoing and planned infrastructure development, including road improvements, public facility upgrades, and community-based projects aimed at improving living conditions.
He has also championed efforts to position Sefwi Wiawso as a key development hub within the Western North Region.
In addition, he has maintained strong engagement with the youth and local stakeholders, holding meetings and consultations to encourage inclusive governance and active participation in decision-making processes.
His administration has emphasized collaboration with community members to identify pressing needs and deliver practical solutions.
Dominic Gyasi has also been vocal about accelerating development through strategic partnerships and government interventions, ensuring that projects executed in the municipality align with national development goals.
The 2025/2026 edition of the awards is scheduled to take place on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the luxurious Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra, starting at 9:30 PM.
