St. Andrew’s Preparatory and Junior High School (JHS) of Bonsu Nkwanta in the Juaboso District has emerged victorious in the 6th Annual Western North Regional Inter-District Independence Day Quiz Competition.
The event, held at the Church of Pentecost, Juaboso Central, showcased the intellectual prowess of young minds from various schools across the region. The competition featured two phases – the Preliminary stage and the final stage – and witnessed fierce but friendly rivalry among participants.
In the Preliminary stage, schools such as New Bonzain JHS (Bia West) and Ahinbenso Anglican JHS (Bodi District) were eliminated, paving the way for the top contenders to battle it out in the final round.
St. Andrew’s Preparatory and Junior High School emerged as champions with 45 points, narrowly defeating defending champions Corsa Preparatory and JHS, who secured second place with 43 points.
Paboase M/A JHS (Sefwi Wiawso) claimed the third spot with 40 points, followed by Enchico Demonstration (Aowin) in fourth position with 39 points, and Achias D/A JHS (Bia East) in fifth place with 37 points.
Dadieso Pentecost Basic School of Suaman District finished sixth with 36 points, while Sweet G.K D/A JHS of Akontombra District took the seventh position.
As champions, St. Andrew’s Preparatory and Junior High School received several prizes, including three brand-new tablets for the contestants, a brand-new laptop for the school, gold medals for the contestants, plaques for the school and the District Education Directorate, and certificates for the participating school and contestants.
The defending champions, Corsa Preparatory and JHS, who took second place, were awarded three brand-new tablets for the contestants, medals for the contestants, a trophy for the school, and a plaque for the District Education Directorate.
Paboase M/A JHS of Sefwi Wiawso Municipality, which finished third, received a certificate of participation, medals for the contestants, a trophy for the school, and a plaque for the District Education Directorate.
Asante Gold Chirano Limited was the headline sponsor of the competition, playing a significant role in ensuring the success of the event.
The event was graced by dignitaries such as Nana Elluo Panyin III, the Kyidomhene of Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council and Executive Chairperson of the Organizing and Planning Committee for the Annual Western North Region Inter-District JHS Independence Day Quiz Competition.
Other notable attendees included Mr. Seth Boateng, Western North Regional Director of Education, Joseph William Anyan, Senior Community Relations Officer of Chirano Gold Mines, Felix Akomaning, Executive Secretary of Eagle Eye Educational Consult, and other prominent personalities.
Students from various schools attended the event, enthusiastically cheering on their respective institutions, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of camaraderie and support throughout the competition.
