The medical superintendent of the Sefwi Wiawso Government Hospital, Dr. Jonathan Mensah, has cautioned the general public not to rely on prayer camps for a cure since no records show there has been a cure of HIV from any church.
Dr. Mansah, who doubles as the Western North Regional HIV/AIDS coordinator, advised all HIV-infected persons to attend various hospitals often to seek medications.
The medical doctor in an interview revealed that HIV/AIDS in the Western North Region has increased since a lot of people have migrated into the area following the creation of the region.
“We have no record that shows someone has been cured of HIV from a prayer camp or a herbal medication,” he said.
He also urged all to protect ourselves from the virus since it’s still in existence, therefore, all should practice the use of condoms during sexual intercourse.
The annual statics of HIV/AIDS data shows that the Western North region has recorded an estimated 10,619 people living with HIV. The region ranked 9th in the country.
