The Member of Parliament for Bia West Constituency, Dr Augustine Tawiah has underlined several projects meant at transforming the lives of the people.
He was elected in 2016 general elections to succeed the former legislature for the area, the late Mr Michael Coffie Boapong who served between 2000 and 2016 on the ticket of NDC.
Dr Augustine Tawiah is one of the unluckiest Member of Parliament whose first term in office is serving as an opposition legislature but has worked diligently to improve the general wellbeing of the constituents.
Some of his achievements include the construction of bridges and reshaping of roads, the construction of classroom blocks, improvement in health facilities, and provision of water facilities, among others. These are all geared towards addressing some of the development needs of the people.
Tour of project locations
After touring the project spots to climax the achievements of Dr Augustine Tawiah, the projects are classified, on various forms which include Education, health, Water, security, youth development and sports which he has done to enable the district derived its part of the national cake.
Touching further on education, Dr Augustine Tawiah has singlehandedly founded the Bia West first tertiary institution, Bia Lamplighter College of Education in Debiso.
According to him, he is constructing a 20-unit classroom block to accommodate new students at Bia Lamplighter College of Education, developing new infrastructure for housing for both male and female students, a new dining hall and assembly hall as well.
However, he has contracted an administration block at the Adjoafua Senior High School, improving infrastructural needs at Bia SECTECH and assisting the establishment of Elluokrom Vocational Training Institute with infrastructures.
He added that he is building 28 early childhood block which consists of 2 unit classroom block with offices across the district.
Essem Islamic School, Akaatiso English Arabic School, Adjoafuaman English Arabic School, Oseikrom English Arabic School, PanaaboKG Block, Kwame Tawia Krom, Debiso KG are few to mention.
Dr Augustine Tawiah is also constructing a female Second cycle institution in Debiso to enhance girl child education in the constituency.
On health, Dr Augustine Tawiah said Essem health Centre had seen changes under his administration as the facility has gone through a renovation system.
He also presented a cash prize of GhC 195,000 (1.950 billion old cedis) from his NHIS fund to the health directorate to augment their efforts in curbing the pandemic as well as other infrastructural development within the health sector.
According to him, a CHP Compound is currently under construction in Sefwi Asuontaa which the facility is on the verge of completion to help meet the health demands in the area.
Dr Augustine Tawiah, through his lobbying skills, has constructed boreholes in 16 communities and other mechanized boreholes as.
Some of the beneficiary communities are Sefwi Asuopri, Sika Ne Asem, Tigare, Ayigbeline, Gyesewobre, Kroboman among others.
He said the youth are the future of our community and they must be given attention.
Dr Tawiah hinted that an amount of GHC 103,000.000 was spent on school fees to support youths perusing their tertiary education and other charges related to other education issues last year.
The legislature explained he had initiated some apprenticeship programs to assist the youths in his constituency.
On security, he disclosed that an amount of GHC 300,000.00 was spent on the law enforcement in the district, as two motorbikes were donated to the district police command by him.
Again, he has also supported the police service to repair their operations vehicle at a cost of Ghc 18,000.00 to ensure that Bia West have its safety.
The legislature hinted that he financed the renovation of Essem old Law Court, and also supported the construction of the new law court as well.
Dr Tawiah has opened up on his plans to set up and operate a Sports Academy to polish children with football skills in the constituency.
Stages of Project
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Bia West Constituency said some of the projects are on the verge of completion and therefore want the constituents to retain him in office to completes other projects.
Finally, Dr Augustine Tawiah said he is counting on the people of Bia West to vote massively for him come December 7.
