Commuters plying the Asankrangwa-Enchi highway are leaving in fear following the deteriorating nature of the road.
The road which links the Western Region at Asankrangwa in the Wassa Amenfi West Municipality to the Western North Region in the Aowin Municipal capital of Enchi has had its portion caved in at Achinful.
Checks from Ahobraseye FM News team shows that the caved-in area stretches over 40 meters and has covered three-quarter of the width of the highway at a very sharp curve, leaving commuters thread on a very dangerous path.
The surprising part is that barricades have been placed around the affected area as a warning sign to the unsuspend road users for several months, but no action seems to have been taken to ensure the portion is repaired.
Speaking to some of the drivers, they expressed their dissatisfaction over the number of appeals they’ve made to the Aowin Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Adu-Gyamfi and the Western North Regional Minister, Hon. Richard Ebba Obeng, who hails from Enchi that have all fallen on deaf ears.
The road was awarded to a Chinese contractor Top International Engineering in 2007 by Former President J. A Kufuor and completed in 2010.
The final part which is Enchi Towship was done in 2017.
