Mr. Martin Bonye was disqualified from the just ended NPP parliamentary primaries in Sefwi Wiawso Constituency with reasons best known to the vetting committee.
He petitioned the National Executive Committee (NEC), on his disqualification from the contest, but quite, unfortunately, it proved otiose and superfluous, leaving his fellow contestant who is also the incumbent Member of Parliament, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie to go unopposed.
According to the spokesperson for Friends of Martin Bonye, Moses Gyimah, their aspirant’s disqualification was based on tribalism. He said Martin is a loyal, patriotic and very responsible for party duties.
“He has paid all dues every true patriot does, of which he deserved not to be treated as a new convert if even not necessary.” He told Sefwinews.com in an interview.
He explained that with their grand and forensic investigations, the decision to prevent Martin from the contest was taken even before going for his nomination forms. Gyimah alleged that Martin was disqualified because he’s not a native of Sefwi.
Martin Bonye during 2016 parliamentary primaries contested, but lost to Dr. Kwaku Afriyie with few votes and with hope to take over this time, but was unanimously disqualified.
And sequentially, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie has been acclaimed the parliamentary candidate for Sefwi Wiawso constituency for 2020 general elections.
