Black Stars duo Mohammed Kudus and Kamaldeen Sulemana have jointly supported the upcoming 10th edition of the Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup, set to take place on Saturday, April 19, 2025, in Accra.

The two Ghanaian internationals, who play for West Ham United and Southampton respectively, donated a trophy, medals, and a cash amount of GH¢5,000 to the organisers. These contributions will go to the eventual winners of the tournament.

In a statement, the organisers expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the players for their generous gesture.

“On behalf of the Chief Patron, His Eminence Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam in whose honour the tournament is held, we extend our deepest gratitude to Kudus and Sulemana for their kind donation,” the statement read.

The Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup, which is held annually to mark the end of Ramadan, brings together over 30 Zongo communities in a football tournament that champions peace, unity, and talent development.

This year’s edition, dubbed the “Champions Edition,” will mark a decade of the tournament’s existence and will feature only past winners, founding communities, and teams with outstanding performances in previous editions.

A total of 15 Zongo communities will battle it out in the one-day football gala at the famous Kawukudi Park in Accra.

Ashaiman, the current champions and the tournament’s most successful team, have lifted the cup three times and will be aiming to extend their record.

With this donation, Kudus and Sulemana continue a proud tradition of support from national team players, following similar contributions in past years from stars like Rashid Sumaila and Andre Ayew.
