The community of Sefwi Asuontaa in the Bia West District has officially welcomed a new traditional leader following the successful enstoolment of Nana Kwadwo Samah II, known in private life as Blankson Kwaku Fosu.
He hails from the Agona Royal Family and currently serves as the Bia West Constituency Youth Organiser for the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Professionally, he is also a General Sergeant with the Ghana Police Service.
The colourful coronation and thanksgiving ceremony took place on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at the Sefwi Asuontaa Town Park.

The event attracted a large gathering of dignitaries, traditional authorities, and community members.
Representatives from the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council graced the occasion, showing their support and recognition of the new chief’s reign.

Among the notable personalities in attendance were two former District Chief Executives (DCEs) under the NPP regime: John Koah, who is also the father of the new chief, and his successor, Bernard Gyebi Blay, both were present to witness the historic moment.

Delivering his maiden speech, Nana Kwadwo Samah II expressed deep gratitude to the kingmakers, elders, and the people of Sefwi Asuontaa for the trust placed in him.
He described his enstoolment as a sacred responsibility and a calling to serve, unite, and uphold the rich traditions of the land.
“This is not just a title—it is a calling. A calling to serve. A calling to unite. A calling to uphold our rich traditions while leading our people into a brighter future,” he stated.
The newly enstooled chief emphasized the importance of unity, development, and inclusiveness. He pledged to work with integrity and humility, while calling on all residents—youth and elders, men and women, both home and abroad—to contribute to the community’s progress.
“Let us build bridges, not walls. Let us value dialogue over division, and unity over strife. Together, we can transform our community into one that is not only proud of its heritage, but also prepared for the opportunities of tomorrow,” he added.

The installation of Nana Kwadwo Samah II is expected to usher in a new era of leadership, with a focus on community development, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.

The ceremony concluded on a vibrant and spiritual note, featuring heartfelt religious blessings, captivating cultural performances, and warm expressions of goodwill from attendees.
These gestures symbolized the community’s collective hope for a peaceful, prosperous, and impactful reign under the leadership of Nana Kwadwo Samah II, as they embraced a new era of unity and development.
