Bibiani Gold Stars Chief Executive Officer Akwasi Adu has confirmed the club is actively pursuing striker Albert Amoah as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
Amoah is currently available on a free transfer after his contract with Al Ahly Benghazi was terminated before the completion of his two-year deal.
The 24-year-old joined the club in a high-profile move in October 2025 but struggled to cement a regular place in the team. He subsequently returned to Asante Kotoko on a short-term loan in January 2026.
Speaking to Luv FM about the club’s transfer strategy, Akwasi Adu disclosed that Gold Stars have already settled on the bulk of their squad and are targeting only a few additions to bolster key positions.
“We have 27 players. At least 24 are confirmed. We are just looking around to add one or two players to some departments of the team. I’m looking for Albert Amoah to replace Attah Kumi,” he said.
Emphasising the club’s determination to land the former Kotoko forward, Adu added: “Yes, I’m chasing Kotoko’s Albert Amoah. I’m chasing him until he comes.”
Gold Stars are in the market for a replacement following the departure of reigning Ghana Premier League top scorer Samuel Atta Kumi, who recently completed a move to Iraqi side Al-Kahrbaa Club.
The club boss also revealed that their search for a central defender has already been concluded after signing a promising youngster from Young Apostles. He indicated that an attacking midfielder remains another priority before the transfer window closes.
“We are looking for one central defender, which we’ve gotten. We got this young player from Young Apostles, and the other role is an attacking midfielder,” Adu explained.
Bibiani Gold Stars will kick off their 2026/27 campaign with an away fixture against Bechem United as they begin a new era under recently appointed Greek head coach Petros Koukouras.
